An emotional groom cried tears of happiness when his stepdaughter called him ‘Dad’ for the first time before she walked down the aisle with her mom.
Stepdad Marcos Padilla, 33, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, came into stepdaughter Zoë Avile’s life when she was just two years old.
Marcos didn’t have children of his own, so he and Zoe formed a close bond, with Marcos becoming the father figure Zoë needed in her life, her mom, Jessica, 30, said.
Over the years, Marcos was there for doctor’s appointments, report card conferences, and Zoë would make hints to her mom that she really wanted to call Marcos ‘Dad.’

The thought of change was scary, but ahead of the couple’s wedding, Jessica and her daughter decided then would be as good a time as any to make the leap.
Zoë recorded a message to be played aloud before she and then her mom came down the aisle.
On September 12, 2025, as Marcos stood on the altar, the message began to play: “Hi Dad. When I first met you, I always looked up to you like you were my dad.”
“As I got older, I was scared to call you my dad. But I no longer am, because you are my dad.”
As that note hit, an emotional Marcos had tears running down his face, and the 33-year-old tried to compose himself as Zoë’s message went on to thank him for loving her and for everything he’s done.

Back down the aisle, Zoë was also crying because the moment meant so much to her, with both their reactions captured by the couple’s wedding videographer, Will Vuitton, of Vuitton Visuals.
Jessica said: “They share a very special bond.
“She has always told me how much she wanted to call him ‘Dad’ but always felt a bit scared.
“She always mentioned how much she would love to be a Padilla, and she respects him so much.
“For our wedding, we wanted to surprise him with a meaningful message, so I shared the idea with Zoë, and she immediately loved it.
“The recorded message began to play, and Zoë was crying because this moment meant so much to her.

“When she first let me hear the message, we were both overwhelmed with emotion.
“I asked her if this is really how she felt and she replied, ‘Yes, Mom. I’ve always wanted to call him Dad.’
“So many people shared how emotional that moment was, and almost everyone at our wedding was in tears.
“Even on social media, we’ve received an overwhelming amount of love, with so many people commenting on how beautiful it is to see a man step up and be a father in a little girl’s life.”
