A woman who thought she was collecting her boyfriend from an afternoon fishing was surprised with a grand proposal.
When Mackenzie Honn – who had been out for a girls’ day – arrived at the home of her boyfriend Taylor’s brother, she was immediately greeted by a long line of friends and family, which stretched out across the grass.
Once she had clocked the gathering, Mackenzie, 30, from Lafayette, Indiana, passed each loved one, who handed her a flower, leading her closer and closer to the dock, where Taylor, 31, was waiting.
There, he got down on one knee and presented Mackenzie with a ring, before fireworks shot into the sky.
Speaking after the proposal, Mackenzie said she had not suspected a thing, as Taylor often fishes with his brother.
During her “much needed” girls’ day, she had headed out for a manicure and pedicure and visited some of her favorite boutiques.
The moment took place on July 18, 2020, but because Mackenzie’s life goal has always been to pay for her own wedding, the couple are still working towards that.
Speaking of the surprise, Mackenzie said: “Honestly, I don’t remember a whole lot once I got down to Taylor, other than him speaking very fast and saying, ‘I love you so much,’ and, ‘I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’
“Of course I said yes, and I couldn’t stop staring at my gorgeous dream ring that was now on my hand.
“After I said yes, fireworks started going off in the background while we faced our friends and family congratulating us.
“The video will forever be something I will hang onto.
“Our daughter now watches it making comments of “Daddy loves you so much, Mommy,” which melts my heart even more now.”
