A woman who wanted to capture her best friend’s reaction to her pregnancy news was shocked when she announced on the video that she was pregnant, too.
Brianne Martin, 30, waited weeks to tell her best friend, Ashton Kelly, 28, as the pair live an hour apart and Brianne wanted to see Ashton’s reaction in person.
Knowing that Brianne and Ashton were both going through first-trimester sickness, their husbands suggested a spa day together so that they could relax and catch up on some much-needed rest.
Brianne, from Knoxville, Tennessee, thought this trip would be the perfect time to surprise Ashton with her news.
Opting against telling her best friend in front of the spa’s staff, Brianne captured Ashton’s reaction outside a Starbucks before the pair headed for their treatment on October 17, 2023.
Sipping her coffee and with her cellphone set to record, Brianne started shooting a selfie video, saying she wanted to capture them both trying their drinks.
But then, Brianne said she had something to tell her friend: “I lied to you this week. I wasn’t sick. I’m pregnant!”
Right on cue, without pausing to take in the announcement, Ashton nodded a split second later and immediately replied, “I’m pregnant too!”
The news came as a massive shock to Brianne, and the pair immediately burst into hysterics, hugging each other and jumping up and down on the spot.
Brianne kept the selfie video rolling, declaring at the end, “I’m so glad I recorded this.”
That clip received more than four million views on TikTok, with Ashton’s due date being May 21, 2024, and Brianne’s on June 2, 2024.
Brianne said: “I experienced such a rush of emotions when I found out that Ashton was pregnant too.
“First, I was so happy for her since I knew she wanted to be pregnant but had not expected it to happen so quickly for them.
“Next, I was so excited to be pregnant with her at the same time.
“I was speechless when I found out our due dates are only a week apart.
“It just seemed too good to be true that my best friend is pregnant too; we get to go through pregnancy together, and we will get to go through the newborn stage and postpartum at the same time.
“The video has received an overwhelmingly positive response on social media.
“People have commented that the video made them cry or are squealing with excitement for people they don’t know on the Internet.
“Many commenters have congratulated us or tagged their best friend in the comments, saying, ‘I hope this will be us one day.’”
