A woman who encouraged her boyfriend to follow his dreams and become a pilot burst into tears of joy when he proposed in his cockpit at 7,500 feet in the air.
Elizabeth “Lilly” Keller, 26, from Delray Beach, Florida, had always admired boyfriend Adrian Cerrato’s love of flying and dreams of one day becoming a pilot, often saying as he flew his drone, “Imagine if that were you in the sky.”
Having dated for three years, Lilly decided to surprise Adrian on Valentine’s Day 2022 with a discovery flight, which many people undertake if they are interested in pursuing a career in aviation.

Adrian loved everything about the day – the airport, the planes, and, of course, the flight itself – and just two months later, he applied for flight school.
Today, the 30-year-old is a professional flight instructor working out of Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.
Having decided he would propose, Adrian knew he had to incorporate flying in some way, given it was Lilly who had encouraged him to get where he is today.
On November 3, Adrian flew Lilly from his university across the Florida Everglades to Naples, where they walked on a beach and collected shells for memories.
Then, on the flight home, Adrian read out a loving message through his headset, thanking Lilly for everything she had done to make his dream of being a pilot become a reality.
He then added: “You’re my greatest adventure, my co-pilot in this journey of life. There’s no one else I’d rather navigate the skies… with you through clear days and turbulence.

“So, with the clouds below us and the horizon ahead, I have just one question: Will you marry me?”
As the words hit, Lilly immediately began sobbing tears of joy, before composing herself to say ‘yes’.
Lilly said: “It was the most amazing day I’ve ever had — and will ever have.
“I will forever be on Cloud Nine.
“Aviation is so special to our relationship, so the fact that Adrian proposed to me while embracing that passion makes it even more meaningful.
“It felt like everything clicked perfectly, and I’ll always cherish that moment.”
