A mom shared the wholesome moment her shy teen son called a girl’s dad to ask his permission to take his daughter on a date – only to accidentally declare over the phone that he loved him.

15-year-old Cessna Seyer Jr.’s nervous slip of the tongue was captured on video by his mom, LaVonna, who said she was initially embarrassed for her son but then felt the moment “melt her heart.”

The reason for LaVonna’s emotions were routed in Cessna’s upbringing: his father passed away in 2021 after battling Stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver, so seeing her son look up to another father figure was special.

Cessna was asking out Makayla Blueford, 14, whose father, Edward, gave permission for the teenager to take his daughter out on a date.

The phone call took place on January 10, and on January 28 the pair headed out on their first date.

Despite the moment initially seeming embarrassing, LaVonna and Cessna both decided to share the video on social media – saying they hoped to show “love, respect and kindness do still exist.”

LaVonna added: “Cessna had never been on a date before and came to me asking if he could take her.

“I asked him if he had asked her yet and he said no; he wanted to get her dad’s permission first – that melted my heart.

“He was too shy at first and it took him a week to ask, finally – that’s when I wanted to video it.

“The response has been overwhelming and heartwarming.

“The video has gained so many views and is still growing with positive comments.”
