A hilarious four-year-old boy looked absolutely devastated when he discovered his newborn sibling was another sister.
When mom Skylar, from Indiana, was pregnant, she decided to wait until after the birth to discover the gender of the family’s new arrival, as “you don’t get many surprises as an adult.”
The household was also split, with one boy and one girl already, Skylar saw her daughter, Maysen, 6, want a baby girl, while her son, Miller, wanted a brother.
On the day of the big announcement, Miller and Maysen waited patiently at home, where they were told they would be the first ones to meet their baby sibling.
As the kids walked into the room, Skylar set her phone to record the moment, and both her Miller and Maysen asked, in tandem, “What is it?”
Skylar, who was holding the baby, asked what gender her kids thought her baby was, and both answered with their preferred choices.
It was then that Skylar announced, “It’s a girl,” with Maysen covering her mouth in happiness, while Miller looked absolutely distraught.
The four-year-old’s face did not improve for a number of seconds, before Miller stated he was sad at the news. But he has since fallen in love with his little sister and being a big brother.
Skylar later shared her video on social media – including a zoom onto Miller’s face at the exact point the disappointing news hit – and the posts went extremely viral.
Skylar said: “The moment played out exactly how you see in the video.
“Since we waited until birth to find out the gender, I told the older kids that they would be the very first ones to know and to meet her.
“They had waited all day to come to the hospital and could hardly contain their excitement walking in.
“In that moment, I felt sorry for Miller.
“He tried so hard to be excited, but his poor little face just couldn’t hide the disappointment of not having a brother.
“His face was, like, ‘Really mom. You had one job!’
“It also probably didn’t help that before going into labor, I said I thought it was going to be a boy.
“He is in love with his little sister now. It didn’t take much time for him to warm up. Every morning he asks me where his ‘chunky girl’ is because he wants to love on her.
He’s been really interested in helping with her too. He likes to try to hold her and feed her, especially now that she’s eating real food! He’s stepped into the big brother role so well!”
Skylar added: “For anyone considering waiting until birth to find out the gender: do it!
“It was one of the coolest experiences ever, as you do not get many surprises as an adult.
“It was so fun celebrating the birth of our baby while also celebrating finally finding out what the baby was.
“Overall, the experience was just so incredibly intimate and special; I would do it 100 times over again.”
