A basketball-loving dad stunned fans at a local high school game when he made a series of shots that got further and further away from the basket – including a final half-court shot that sent the crowd wild.
Andy Brentano’s wife, Victoria, said the competition organizers were so stunned that they didn’t even have the swag bag prize ready to present to her husband.
According to Victoria, 36, from Lyons, Oregon, she and Andy are always looking for local basketball games to attend.

Because their kids’ season was over, the family decided to watch Andy’s cousin, Cruz, play in a local high school game, as Andy’s uncle is the coach at nearby Woodburn High School.
At the game, which took place at Willamette University, Salem, on December 21, Andy put himself forward for the half-time competition, which was to make one half-court shot to win airfare tickets anywhere in the U.S., Victoria said.
Unfortunately for Andy, he was not picked for that competition – but the announcer then selected him for another, harder challenge of making four shots: one from beneath the basket, one from the free throw line, another from outside the three-point line, and a final, long-range shot from the half-court line.
If Andy were to make it, he would win a swag back from a local car dealership, and having walked onto the court, he quietly went about his business.
After sinking the first two shots, Andy heard the crowd in the gymnasium getting behind him, and the excitement then built as he sunk a third basket.
Having nailed the last basket from the half-court, Andy ran around the court in delight, carrying out an airplane celebration to a round of applause.
Victoria, who captured the moment on video, said it took 10 minutes for the organizers to find a swag bag for Andy, given the slim chances of him making all four shots in a row.
She later shared the video on social media, along with Andy’s prizes of a coffee cup and a teddy bear – which caused viewers to say he should have won a car for the amazingness of his shooting.

In a twist of fate, this was not the first time Andy had made a half-court shot in this gymnasium.
In 2007, Victoria said, Andy made a buzzer-beater from even further away in a State Championship game while in high school.
She said of his recent success: “I knew I was going to record, but two men in the video stood right in front of me, so I had to stand up.
“The kids and I, along with the morning crowd, were watching him from the stands, and when that last shot was made, we couldn’t believe it!

“The response has been so great.
“Most people want to know what he won for doing all of this, and when I tell them it was a coffee cup and a teddy bear, they are shocked, saying he should have won a car.
“We also agree! After he won, the gym went crazy, and the announcer was just as shocked.
“They didn’t even have the prize ready because they didn’t think anyone would win.
“It took about 10 minutes for them to call Andy down and give him the Swag bag.”
