Bride Springs Surprise Visit on Grandma Who Couldn’t Make Her Wedding

Exclusive to Happily

A granddaughter warmed the heart of her grandma, who was left devastated that she couldn’t make her wedding by showing up at her nursing facility in her wedding dress for a wholesome photoshoot.

Dinahlee Nava, 32, from Dallas, Texas, considers her grandma Magdalena, 77, a “second mom,” as Dinahlee was raised by a single mother and lived with her grandma until she was 15.

Over the years, Magdalena was always there for the big moments in Dinahlee’s life, and she has always encouraged her granddaughter to “shoot for the stars” and push for what she wants in life.

With such a close bond, it was always Dinahlee’s dream for her grandmother to be part of her wedding day, but after two major strokes and complications with her legs, Magdalena had to accept that she could not attend in person.

And so, on the day of her wedding, on November 15, Dinahlee and her husband Alan, 31, decided to pay a visit to Laurenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Duncanville, where Magdalena is based.

The 77-year-old was given a heads-up, and so she proudly picked out one of her best dresses to wear for the occasion.

As soon as she saw her granddaughter, Magdalena immediately lit up, before posing for a series of photos from a moment the pair will never forget.

Dinahlee said: “As much as I wanted her to be a part of my special day, I just knew it wasn’t physically possible.

“Physically, I knew she wouldn’t have been able to attend, so I knew that I wanted to incorporate going to see her the day of our wedding.

“She was so thrilled! She even picked out that dress to wear because she wanted to look nice for the photos. It was perfect.

“As much as I wanted to cry, she was making me laugh the entire time – she’s such a character. My grandma is my hero. My mother was a single mother, so my grandparents helped her raise me. I lived with my grandparents until I was 15 years old, so my grandma has always been someone I admired and considered as a second mom.

“She’s one of the strongest women that I know, and she plays a big role in the woman I’m becoming. I can only pray to be half the woman she is.”
