A pair of sisters could not hide their excitement when they were surprised by their grandma, who they had not seen in more than a year because of her cancer battle.
Siblings Narella, 5, and Elliana, 3, last saw their grandmother Melissa, 57, in July 2021, before Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer.
During Melissa’s treatment, she was advised to take coronavirus-related precautions, meaning her daughter, Nia, 26, who lives in South Carolina, and her two daughters couldn’t visit Melissa in Hawaii, where she is based.
That all changed in September 2022 when Melissa was given the all-clear to travel.
With her phone recording, the 57-year-old entered her daughter’s South Carolina home, where she headed down a set of stairs to surprise her granddaughters – one freezing in shock, the other screaming with excitement.
Nia also captured the moment from an alternative angle, later sharing that post on social media for others to enjoy.
She said of the video: “Everyone has been so sweet about it.
“They know we haven’t seen each other in a while and with everything going on, and how special it was that she was able to visit.”
