A humble kid thanked his hardworking mom for the one small present under the Christmas tree – then absolutely lost it when he discovered she’d actually saved to get him his dream gaming setup.
10-year-old Danta’s reaction melted hearts online thanks to his incredibly humble, genuine and thankful reaction to thinking he only received one small gift for Christmas.
But his hardworking mom Markeshia Blow, 30, from Prince George, Virginia, had actually spent all year saving up to get him his dream PC gaming setup.
She said Danta is her “pride and joy,” and over the last year he has made her proud in so many ways – including making the football team and being made an honor roll student.
So, ahead of the holiday season, she wanted to do something to make Christmas extra special for him.
Knowing that he wanted a gaming PC, Markeshia saved up while working her job at a local 7-Eleven, before secretly putting the PC together in the days leading up to Christmas.
Then, on Christmas Eve, she made sure everything was ready for Christmas morning before heading to work.
Later that day, she captured Danta entering her living room, where he looked under the tree and humbly accepted a single, small surprise present – thanking his mom for her generosity.
But Danta then jumped for joy when he turned and realized his big gift was waiting for him in his room – running to check out his new gaming setup and giving his mom a huge hug.
An emotional Markeshia, who said she couldn’t contain her excitement prior to the surprise, captured her son’s appreciative reaction on video, which she later shared on social media.
One post Markeshia uploaded received nearly five million views alone, with many commenters saying the clip made them cry because of how grateful Danta was.
Markeshia said: “The response to the video has been amazing – almost five million views in less than week.
“It had everyone in tears.
“Family members were calling me crying once they’ve seen it, and everyone in the comments seems to be crying – men and women!
“The comments have been uplifting and kind.
“Anyone who knows Danta personally has been ecstatic because they know he’s really that kind kid that’s in the video.
“The humility and love he showed opening the first gifts was confirmation that the sacrifices I made for the big gift was well worth it.
“Now, that reaction: all a mom could ever wish for.
“Mission accomplished!”
