Ahead of her baby’s arrival, a mom-to-be received a hilarious gift from friends and family – a photoshoot of them all posing in diapers, designed to lift her spirits during those inevitable late-night changes.
The fun shoot took place during 27-year-old Laura Smollon’s baby shower at her home in Charleston, South Carolina, when Laura was 37 weeks pregnant.
She and her fiancé, Christian, 28, were a captain and a chef on a boat in the Caribbean, and both admitted that discovering Laura was pregnant came as a shock about what could become their new reality.
The pair said they decided to look for humor in their change of situation, and when talking about what they were most daunted by, both agreed that the first six weeks – especially the middle-of-the-night changes and feeds – were what they were most concerned about.

Laura and Christian joked about him wearing a diaper during such changes to boost Laura’s spirits – and that soon spiraled into friends and family being told this unique idea for a coping mechanism.
Supportively, the others were on board, and during the pair’s baby shower, on March 8, friends, cousins, and siblings posed for photos in diapers so Laura and Christian could hang them on the wall above the couple’s changing station.
What followed was a hilarious photo shoot, Laura said, which she and others then captured on video.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Alora Lena, into the world on April 4, and the diaper photos now hang framed on her wall.

She said: “Something that intimidated us was the first six weeks and middle of the nighttime changes and feedings, so I got creative on what it would take to keep my mind happy at that 2am hour.
“I was talking to my fiancé and burst out laughing at the idea of him wearing a diaper while I’m changing our baby’s diaper.
“That then spiraled into the visual of all my closest friends wearing diapers to make me laugh in the middle of the night.
“Once I shared this with them, they were all 100 percent on board to support me.

“The diaper photoshoot was the core reason we had the baby shower in the first place.
“The idea was way better than I imagined it.
“The moment of seeing everyone in diapers and laughing was more heart-consuming than the pictures that are left hanging on my wall.
“They are now this representation of the crazy-stupid support I have from my friends and family.”
