He Thought The Server Brought Condiments – Then He Opened The Box

A server delivered a wooden box like it was standard table gear, and Josh had no idea what was coming.

This is the hilarious moment a boyfriend had no idea a box of baby items delivered to their table at a restaurant instead of condiments was revealing his girlfriend’s pregnancy.

Leslie Ore and boyfriend Josh, from Virginia Beach, Virginia, had been together four years after meeting at a difficult time in both their lives, with their support for each other helping their relationship grow.

In January 2025 Leslie fell pregnant, saying it affirmed everything they had been working towards coming to fruition, so she couldn’t wait to tell Josh he was set to become a father for the first time.

Leslie created a gift box, containing items like her positive pregnancy test, baby booties, a pacifier, baby shampoo and a baby scrapbook.

On January 10, the couple headed to a meal at Outback Steakhouse in Kempsville, where staff had earlier been informed of Leslie’s big surprise.

After the couple ordered, a server returned and put food on the table, before another placed down the wooden box, instead of condiments, that Leslie created.

Josh pulled out the booties, saying, “These are coming home with us,” initially thinking they were saltshakers.

When she asked what the items were, Josh said he didn’t think they were for their table, before Leslie encouraged him to look at the other items.

Moving the pacifier to one side, Josh opened the box to find the positive pregnancy test, before saying, stunned, “We’re having a baby?!”

Leslie captured the moment on video, as her boyfriend then headed around to give her an emotional kiss, later posting it online in a throwback post, where people joked about how long it took Josh to realize what was happening.

The couple later welcomed their son, Levi Adam Baker, named after Josh’s cousin who he lost to addiction.

Leslie, speaking exclusively to good news network Happilynews.com, said: “Josh genuinely thought it was delivered to the wrong table.

“He even thought the baby booties were saltshakers at first, and I was trying not to laugh because he didn’t know I was videotaping the whole thing.

“That’s why you hear me asking Josh to look at the box with the bow on it – and that’s when you see his face light up because in that box was my positive pregnancy test.

“The emotion was overwhelming.

“It was such a surreal, joyful moment, and having the restaurant be a part of it made it even more special.

“The message Josh and I hope others take from our story is that love comes in all different forms and often shows up in the most unexpected ways.

“We want people to persevere and never give up – never give up on each other.

“Everything we’ve been through, both the good and the bad, has made our relationship stronger and taught us that real love does exist, it’s unconditional, and it means there are no conditions or limitations for it.

“Josh is my best friend and I’m so grateful for the second chance we’ve had at life together and the life we built, and the family we’ve created is beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined.

“We hope our story encourages others to believe in love, resilience, and hope.”
