Shocked Bride Leaps Into Pool as Best Friend Surprises Her at Destination Wedding

Trisha thought her longtime friend couldn’t make the destination wedding — until she swam up in disguise.

A bride who thought her bestie would not make her destination wedding jumped into the resort pool in shock when her pal emerged from the water to surprise her.

Friends of bride Trisha Schumaker, 37, from Ottawa, Ohio, went all out to help Abby Aileen with her big surprise, criticizing Abby for her flakiness as they hung out at the Hilton La Ramona Resort in the Dominican Republic.

Trisha and Abby worked together as X-ray techs for years, and, as a result, Abby was there through Trisha’s big life events.

As a result, Trisha said she could not imagine Abby not being there for her second marriage – but her childhood best friend, Britnee, who had been organizing the trip, had informed her that Abby couldn’t make things work.

Trisha understood the commitment it would take to attend a destination wedding, especially if money were tight, but secretly Abby had been liaising with Britnee and renewing her passport, planning to surprise Trisha when she arrived solo at the resort.

After Trisha and her sister had returned from a massage, Britnee kept asking Trisha if there were flamingos nearby, which the bride thought was a strange question to ask repeatedly.

But flamingo was, in fact, the code word for Abby to approach, swimming up to the group of friends, her face covered by a sun hat.

Then, after Abby, 43, had lifted her hat, Trisha let out a stunned scream, shouting Abby’s name and leaping into the pool to hug her friend.

The moment was captured on video, which Trisha later shared on TikTok to tens of thousands of likes.

Trisha, who got married the next day, said: “Abby and I worked together as X-Ray techs for years, she was there with me through a lot of my big life events.

“I couldn’t have imagined her not being there…. I wanted her to come so bad.
