Nephew Surprises Aunt With New Home After Fire Destroys Everything

After losing everything in a fire, Mary walked into a “rental viewing” that turned out to be her new home.

A beloved aunt who lost her house and possessions in a fire burst into tears of happiness when her nephew surprised her with a new home.

Tyquan Carr, 26, from Burlington, North Carolina, shares an extremely close bond with his aunt, Mary Glaspie, 51, speaking to her every day.

When Mary broke the news to Tyquan that a house fire had seen her lose everything, he knew he had to help.

The 26-year-old works in mobile home investing by buying, selling, renting and flipping such properties through his company Multi-Mobile, LLC.

Inside a bright living room, a woman reacts as a hand offers a house key; moments later she hugs the giver while family looks on.
The reveal: Tyquan hands Mary the key to her new home, sparking happy tears and a family hug.

Understanding the need for affordable housing, Tyquan came across a mobile home he thought would be a great fit for his aunt, who had no belongings and ongoing health issues, adding to the stress of not having a home.

Tyquan worked with Mary’s son to fix up the mobile home, which, he said, had solid bones but needed a few cosmetic updates.

Then, on June 29, Tyquan gathered his family at the home, which he had initially told everyone was going to be a viewing for the first furnished rental he had created.

But when everyone arrived before Mary, Tyquan told them the real plan: that this was, in fact, his aunt’s new home.

After Mary showed up, she toured the home and gave her feedback, before the family found themselves standing in the living room.

There, Tyquan gave a loving speech to Mary before presenting her with the keys, the surprise bringing his aunt to tears.

Having shared footage of the surprise on social media, Tyquan saw his video receive more than 15 million views, as well as an outpouring of love for him, his aunt and the gesture.

Speaking of the surprise, he said: “Everyone except my aunt was told the real plan right before she walked through.

“As she toured the home and gave me her feedback, I handed her the keys and told her it was hers.

“In that moment, you could see the relief wash over her and the weight lifted right off her shoulders.

“Seeing her emotional reaction and knowing how much of a burden had been lifted was overwhelming.
