The rescue was carried out by a crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May, in New Jersey, who responded to a June 12 call about a distressed turtle spotted in the waters near the Miah Maull Lighthouse.
In the video, a technician from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center and supporting crew members can be seen catching the line and trying to pull it from around the struggling turtle.
Rescuers then cut the line so the animal could be freed before swimming away to large cheers.
