A singer who wrote a song about her dad secretly recorded his reaction to hearing it on the radio for the first time.
Tawna Goforth, from Sedgwick, Kansas, penned the heartfelt song about growing up with her father in the family car workshop.
The track “Fixing Cars,” was recently released and was selected to air on the local radio station Radio SoBro during its new music Friday segment.

Knowing her track was going to air, Tawna secretly set up a camera in her uncle’s workshop, where her dad works, to record his reaction – and the result had the internet collectively sobbing.
As the radio announcer introduces the song name-checking Tawna, her dad already begins to sit up and listen, ready for the first bars to play.
But even before they do, he begins tearing up with pride as the announcer explains the backstory to the song.

As Tawna’s track plays with the lyrics, “I can still hear him say, Pumpkin pass me that 38 and scoot that line just a little right”, her dad begins to bawl – wiping tears from his eyes as he reminisces.
But by the time the song reaches its crescendo with, “But now I see what he knew all along, we weren’t just fixing cars,” dad begins to bawl uncontrollably with joy.
Viewers were equally impressed by Tawna’s song and her dad’s priceless reaction. One said: “As a daddy’s girl this hit home. Sitting here bawling! 🥺 Love this!”
