She Saved Every Voicemail From Her Dad Then Played Them At Her Wedding

A sweet tradition from her teen years became part of the biggest moment of the day.

The first voicemail came when Chloe McIntyre was a freshman in high school. Her father, Scott Knight, had called to sing “Happy Birthday.” It was silly, sweet, the kind of message most people would listen to once and forget. But Chloe saved it.

She saved the next one, too. And the one after that.

Through high school, through college, through the stumbles and victories of becoming an adult, Scott, now 61, kept leaving messages for his daughter. Little notes of encouragement. Reminders that he was proud of her. The voice of a father who wanted his kid to know she was loved. Chloe, from New Milford, Connecticut, never deleted a single one.

“He’s been my biggest supporter,” she said, speaking exclusively to Happilynews.com.

The voicemails became something of a treasure – so much so that when Chloe went on her first date with a man named Dylan, she played him one of her father’s messages. It was her way of showing him something real about who she was, and where she came from. And Dylan remembered that moment.

Because right after he proposed, he brought it up. Those voicemails, he said, they should find a way to work them into the wedding.

So Chloe began planning in secret. She stitched together a collection of her father’s messages from across the years, timing them to roll into the song she had chosen for their father-daughter dance.

Then, at the couple’s wedding venue in Killingly, Connecticut, the moment arrived. The reception was in full swing and guests turned their attention to the dance floor as Scott stepped forward to meet his daughter.

But as the audio began to play and Scott’s own voice filled the room – birthday wishes, words of love, years of messages he had long forgotten leaving – he broke down in tears at the memories.

“I knew my dad was going to be an emotional mess, so I was trying my best to keep it together,” Chloe said. “But as soon as he grabbed me, I broke down as well. I felt an overwhelming sense of love, happiness, and comfort.”

The two held each other on the dance floor, surrounded by the sound of Scott’s own devotion played back to him.

“I loved his initial reaction,” Chloe said. “You can see how shocked he was in the video, so I love that he didn’t see that coming at all.”

The moment was captured by Social By Carly, who had been hired to film the day’s highlights. When Chloe shared the clip on social media, the response caught her off guard. Thousands of strangers wrote to say they wished they had a father like Scott.

Chloe recalled: “I think this was such a humbling experience in the sense that a lot of the feedback we were getting back on the video were people saying they wish they had a father like him.

“Sometimes we don’t realize how lucky we are to have these little things like a supportive and loving father.”
