A social media star grandma giving unfiltered opinions on her granddaughter’s outfits was left stunned when a baggy dress was a pregnancy announcement.
For Sara Meier, 31, from Florida, regular video calls with her New York-based grandma have been a great way to keep in touch, with Sara often modeling new outfits to ask her grandmother’s opinion.
It started in December 2022 when Sara visited her 92-year-old grandmother in New York and decided to show her some vacation outfits and record her reactions.

She shared the video on social media, where it went viral, so she decided to continue these try-on sessions with her grandmother remotely, calling her from Florida and recording her reactions.
In total, Sara and her grandmother, who always remains anonymous, have made more than 300 videos since then – but there was one session Sara couldn’t wait to record.
Having discovered she was pregnant, Sara decided to tell her grandma the good news during one of their FaceTime calls, as that way she wouldn’t see it coming.
On November 27, 2024, Sara set her camera rolling and walked out in a series of baggy dresses.
“So much material,” Sara’s grandma said, adding, “You could put another person inside.”
In response to such wholesome remarks, Sara said, “You don’t think I look pregnant, right?”, to which her grandma said no.
It was at that point that Sara asked what her grandmother would do if she was.
Her grandmother replied to say that she would ‘say Hallelujah, ’ which prompted Sara to pull out a positive test and say, “Well, I guess you should say Hallelujah.”

The surprise caught Sara’s grandma completely off guard, to which she responded, “What?!”, and that she was “so happy.”
Sara later posted the announcement video on social media, where her grandmother’s wholesome reaction also went viral.
Since then, Sara has enjoyed continuing her try-on sessions with her grandma, who has loved comparing the pregnancy styles of the 1950s to the present day.
Sara, who is due to welcome a baby boy in April, said: “I knew I wanted to do it during one of our FaceTime’s because she wouldn’t see it coming.
“It’s been a special bond, having these videos, and incorporating the pregnancy announcement makes it even better.

“She was shocked and did not see it coming!
“I didn’t know what to expect – every outfit I show Granny is her genuine reaction, so I went into doing the pregnancy reveal without knowing how excited she would get.
“I just knew whatever happened would be genuine.
“My family loves her reaction because it captures her personality well.
“Now that I am pregnant, we have something new to dress up for.
“It’s been fascinating showing Granny popular styles of pregnancy outfits today, versus hearing her point of view from how pregnancy style was back in her day.”
