A son was left speechless when he unwrapped his Christmas gift to discover a set of keys to a brand-new truck.
Derrick Cruz, 18, had been expecting a necklace, but secretly his parents had been saving up to buy him his dream truck.
Derrick has always loved trucks, so as soon as he turned 18 and passed his driving test, he began searching for the perfect vehicle.
After finding his dream truck, a Chevrolet Silverado, he was disappointed when another buyer snapped it up – or so he thought.
Secretly, his parents had caught wind that he had his eye on this vehicle and bought it.
They hid it at his brother’s house until Christmas before surprising him with the news.
Derrick said: “I was like, it’s a dream. It made me feel amazing, you know, it was just the best feeling in the world and if I, if I can go back and relive that, I would.
“You gotta be thankful for what you get and just appreciate what your parents do for you.”
Derrick’s mom Vanessa added: “I had a hard time talking because I was getting all choked up, but I was excited to see his joy, his happiness.
“He’s always been a good kid. He works hard.
“He studies and he doesn’t go out and he was patient to wait till he was 18 years old to get a truck, so I was overcome with joy and happiness for him because he deserved it.”
