A nurse was stunned when she opened her Bible and discovered a $1 million-winning lottery ticket tucked inside.
Jacqueline Mangus from Virginia heard on the news that a ticket purchased in Moneta had won big—but never imagined it was hers.
Then, opening her bible, she remembered she had tucked her own ticket inside for safekeeping.
And upon checking the results, she was shocked to see she held the winning ticket.
“I was tickled to death!” she told Virginia Lottery officials.

Jacqueline had purchased her $1 million-winning ticket on Christmas Eve at Lake Mart & Deli in Moneta, Virginia.
Despite the life-changing news, the dedicated nurse stuck to her routine and went to work as usual after collecting her check.
Her ticket was one of five top prize-winning tickets in the Virginia New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. The other four $1 million winners were bought in Ashburn, Fishersville, Henrico, and Herndon.
All proceeds from the Virginia Lottery go toward K-12 education in the state.
Jacqueline’s hometown in Bedford County benefited from more than $6.8 million in lottery funds for education last fiscal year.
