A beloved grandma fought back tears when her grandson surprised her with her own great-grandmother’s rocking chair, a family heirloom that she thought may have been lost and had not seen for more than a decade.
The chair in question, which is more than 100 years old, belonged to 82-year-old Peggy Carlson’s Great Grandma Gooch, who she could remember sitting in when she was younger.
For more than four generations, the chair had been handed down, Peggy’s grandson, Jeremy, said, but after Peggy’s mother died, she was not sure what ever happened to the item of furniture – only that she was next in line to inherit it.

Jeremy had heard this story, so he decided to liaise with Peggy’s siblings, hoping they could locate what happened to the chair when their mother passed.
Peggy’s youngest sister revealed that she had it in her garage, so Jeremy drove cross-state from his home in St. Anthony, Idaho, to his great aunt’s house in Downey.
Having collected the chair, Jeremy planned to surprise his grandma with her beloved heirloom on Christmas Day.
As Peggy, from Rayton, Montana, walked into her grandson’s house, she immediately noticed the familiar furniture across the room.
Having said to her grandson that it was so amazing that he could locate it, the 82-year-old then sat in her great grandma’s chair, which caused her to well up with emotion.
Jeremy, who captured the moment on video, said: “Grandma walked out, saw the chair and burst into tears.
