A loving dog has shown her protective side by trying to stop her owner from burping her baby as she thinks it might be hurting him.
Owner Maria Rojas, from Phoenix, Arizona, initially thought seven-year-old Lola’s blocking technique was a one-off – but over time, the pooch kept trying to protect baby Nacho again and again.
Lola, a Vizsla, has always been close to Nacho, Maria, 33, from Phoenix, Arizona, said, having initially been curious when the newborn was brought home from the hospital.
Over time, that bond grew into Lola always wanting to be close to Nacho – and when she first witnessed the youngster being burped, the determined dog immediately headed to Maria and put her paw on the mom’s knee to ask her to stop.
Maria thought this initial act of protectiveness was cute, and over the days and weeks that followed – and as Nacho got bigger – Lola’s attempts to stop her baby companion from getting burped grew more committed.
Eventually, Lola started jumping up and actively trying to push Maria’s hand away – but only when Nacho was being burped.
She was so amazed by these persistent efforts that she decided to start capturing videos of Lola’s actions to show her parents.

The clips soon went viral on social media, garnering millions of views and heaps of praise for Lola.
Maria said: “Lola is very attentive when it comes to her human siblings.
“She sleeps with my older kids every night, alternating rooms.
“I knew she loved them as she grew up with them. However, I didn’t know how she would react to a new baby.
“Would she ignore him? Would she feel jealous? I just didn’t know.
“So, when I see that her heart has only grown to make room for another family member, it really warms my heart.
“My kids love her and Nacho lights up with joy when he sees her first thing in the morning.
“When I’d burp him, she would put her paw on my knee until I stopped.
“As he got bigger, she felt more comfortable with moving my hand away from him when I would burp him.
“I was telling my parents about it, and they asked me to record it when she did it.
“I decided to record one day, and I knew the patting sounds would get her attention.
“She was very quick to come to his rescue.”
