A husband who was told he and his wife had just a 0.1% chance of conceiving naturally dropped everything and sprinted through his house in shock when he came home to a pregnancy reveal.
Having started trying for a child in 2020, Jacob and Lauren Beck, from Toledo, Ohio, were later faced with the prospect that having a child could be a difficult – and costly – reality.
After a year and a half of trying, Lauren, who had been having irregular cycles her entire adult life, was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

The couple tried everything without luck, and after a consultation in 2021, they began looking into IVF.
As well as facing such low odds of conceiving naturally, Jacob said the couple also realized they couldn’t afford the rounds of treatment, as the IVF costs, he said, would be around $23,000.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Jacob changed jobs to travel nursing to pay for the treatment, which saw him stay in “unsafe” areas and living away from Lauren to raise the money.
His hard work paid off, though, when the couple welcomed their first child, Ryker, in 2023 – but to have the second child they dreamed of, they would need to raise money again.
A change in Lauren’s financial situation set the couple back, Jacob, 32, said, but he devised a plan to raise $10,000 for the next embryo transfer as a surprise that could result in a 2026 baby.
But then, on November 1, 2024, Lauren, 33, decided to take a pregnancy test while Jacob was at work.
Having received a positive test, she decided to try again the following day, just to make sure, and planned a big surprise for when her husband returned home from work that day.
As Jacob walked into his home on November 2, he saw three positive tests and a onesie that said “Miracle Baby” in a box on the counter.
Everything clicked for Jacob immediately, and he let out a huge scream and burst through the house in sheer delight, dropping things and unable to comprehend the news.

Lauren captured the moment, and her previous day’s reaction to her pregnancy test results, on video, walking through the house to find an overwhelmed Jacob on his knees on the floor.
The couple are expecting a little girl on May 22, 2025.
Jacob said: “We were told he had less than a 0.1% chance of having a child naturally, and given our diagnosis, IVF was our only option.
“I think it’s funny to watch my eyes go between the box that had no business being on the counter and my wife.
“As soon as I saw the shape of the test, I knew what it was.

“For some reason, I immediately turned around and started running, stripping my backpack, jacket and medical shears.
“I did several skip jump fist bumps, and my plan was to make it back to my wife for the hug, but lost all control of my knees and fell down.
“It was a huge combination of feelings.
“We were told it wasn’t going to happen, for one. Two, we had no plans for it; no signs that it was even possible; and the lowest expectations in regard to getting pregnant.
“On top of that, money was extremely tight at that time, and we had just had a talk about it the night before, so I was sitting particularly low at the time.
“Then seeing something that was supposed to be near impossible – I had the same feeling of joy as when I heard my son cry for the first time.”
