Alejandro, 19, from Lubbock, Texas, is extremely close to his mom, Maria, and his father, Alberto, being the youngest of their children and the “baby” of the family.

Due to this bond, the family found Alejandro’s time away with the United States Marine Corps tough, as he started out being based in San Diego before being transferred to Missouri.

When Alejandro received the news he could finally return home after being away for the best part of a year, he liaised with his sister, Teresa, 32, to plan a big surprise.

As soon as she did, the proud mom turned into an “emotional wreck,” Teresa said, which is exactly what she had expected.

Maria then headed towards her son for a tear-filled hug before it was time to surprise Alberto, 57, who was outside.

Emerging from his garage, Alberto looked stunned before heading in to give his son an emotional embrace, too.

Teresa later shared a video of the two surprises on social media, where it went viral, receiving tens of thousands of likes.

She said: “Our mom kind of had an idea of when he might be coming home, but she didn’t know when exactly.

“She kept trying to bribe me with coffee so I would spill the beans.

“As I figured, she was beyond emotional and excited to see her son walk through that door.

“I was really nervous that day. I wanted everything to play out how I imagined It.
