A pilot captured the moment he proposed to his high school sweetheart from his own point of view – using a pair of Meta glasses to secretly record the intimate moment as he got down on one knee.
Idalid Lara and Nick Axtman, both 24, from Atlanta, Georgia, have been together since high school and said they knew from a young age that they wanted to marry each other one day.
But the couple first decided to focus on their careers in their early 20s, with Idalid working toward a master’s degree and Nick pursuing his dream of becoming a pilot.

With both of them soon reaching major milestones, Nick decided the timing was right to propose – and found a way to include his love of flying in the plan.
He arranged to take Idalid on their first official flight together before landing at a local airport near Monteluce Winery in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Nick told Idalid he would be wearing a pair of Meta glasses he had purchased, which did not raise any suspicions, as he had previously used them to record takeoffs, flights and landings during his training.
On October 23, after capturing a few clips through the glasses while they were in the sky, Nick walked Idalid through the winery toward a large “Marry Me” sign on a small bridge over a pond.
As golden hour began, Nick pressed record on the glasses, opened the ring box, got down on one knee and asked his high school sweetheart to marry him.
The footage captured the proposal from Nick’s perspective, showing Idalid becoming emotional as he told her: “There’s nothing I want more than to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Idalid later shared the video on her social media pages, where it has been viewed more than 3.6 million times.
Reflecting on the moment, Idalid said: “When we watch the video back, we feel exactly what we felt in that moment: overwhelming love.

“The love was so overwhelming and radiating even the photographer said, ‘You guys are so in love, I can feel it.’
“The glasses captured everything so naturally and beautifully.
“It feels like we’re reliving our proposal every time we watch it.”
The video also sparked a big reaction online, with some viewers initially confused about how the footage had been filmed.
Idalid said: “The response online has been incredible.
“The video now has 3.6 million views, and I’ve gained nearly 10,000 followers on TikTok from it.

“Interestingly, the reaction has been about 50/50.
“Some people thought he pulled out his phone and taped it to his head to record, while others immediately recognized the glasses and thought it was such a wholesome way to capture the moment.
“I still receive comments and likes on the video every single day.”
The couple are now planning to marry on October 9, 2027, near the place where they got engaged.
They have joked that they may even ask their officiant to wear Nick’s glasses to record the ceremony.
