A confused couple jumped in shock when they discovered an item their daughter said she’d mail cross-country just a day earlier on their kitchen counter – only for her to enter the room and surprise them.

Danny and Carolyn, from Nashville, Tennessee, had asked their daughter Haley Nguyen, 32, to mail them a cold therapy machine, as Danny, who’s in his 70s, will soon undergo knee replacement surgery.

Haley, though, decided she could go one better and deliver the item herself, given she hadn’t been home to Tennessee from Colorado for almost eight months.

A day after Danny’s call, she made her way into her parents’ house on August 6 and placed the machine on their kitchen counter, setting up a camera and waiting for them to come home.

When Danny and Carolyn entered the room, they looked shocked, asking, “What is this doing here?”

They mulled over the possibilities, declaring “That is Haley’s,” before wondering if others could have had the device.

With her parents admitting they couldn’t figure out where the device might have come from, Haley headed into the room, causing Danny and Carolyn to scream in shock and look stunned.

Haley and her husband, Bao, then headed over to the couple to give them a loving reunion hug.

She said: “When we decided to surprise them, we made sure not to tell anyone.

“But the fact that my dad called the day beforehand asked me to ship the cold therapy machine made the opportunity even more perfect.

“There was hugging, hugging and more hugging.

“We also watched the video many times in slow-mo – we have never seen my mom be so excited, nor have seen my dad be jump scared it was hilarious to watch.

“I am so appreciative that I will forever have this moment with them.

“As they get older and since we live across the country, moments with them are so precious.”
