A girl took the age-old excuse of a dog eating her homework to the next level when she had to tell her teachers her family PIG had eaten her work – and she had the footage to prove it.
Taylee Tinsley, 14, from Phoenix, Arizona, let out a tiny scream when she walked into her kitchen-living room and discovered hours of hard work turned into “confetti homework” all over the floor.
Minutes earlier, on January 23, Taylee’s parents, Jacey and Marcus, couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the torn papers strewn everywhere.
Right on cue, the family’s pet pig, Polly Pocket, aged two, trotted into the living room looking very proud of herself, hoping for praise from Jacey for what she thought was a task completed.
It was then that Jacey, Marcus and Taylee decided to watch back their security footage, where they could see Polly head over to Taylee’s bag, remove the papers, and start chewing them up.
The damage to Taylee’s work was so extreme, with some papers completely missing and others destroyed, that Jacey needed to email Taylee’s teachers and principal, explaining what happened.
Some replied saying it was the first time they’d heard of a pig eating homework, while others could only respond with laughter at the situation.
Polly Pocket is very much the personality of the house, said the family, who also share their life with mini pigs Penelope and Daisy on their family social media pages @thetinsleyherd.
Mom Jacey said: “When we watched the footage back, we honestly just started laughing.
“It’s frustrating in the moment, but Polly has a reputation in our house, she’s our mischievous one.
“The other two pigs are usually well behaved, but Polly is always one step ahead of us, constantly figuring things out.
“What really got us was the footage from before it happened.
“It shows Polly and our daughter snuggling on the couch, all sweet and innocent, but while they’re cuddling, Polly is just staring at the backpack – not casually – fully locked in.
“You can almost see the gears turning, she watches it for a while just waiting.
“The second our daughter gets up and walks to her room, Polly waits until she’s completely out of sight, then hops up and makes her move.
“Seeing how strategic she was about it made it impossible not to laugh.
“It wasn’t random chaos. It was a very determined pig with a mission.”
