A couple were left baffled when a pizza delivery arrived with no pizza inside the box – until they opened the box to discover their son and daughter-in-law’s pregnancy announcement.
Winston Haywood, 26, from Charlotte, North Carolina, always shares his big news, good or bad, with his mom Marsha and dad Lyle, so he couldn’t wait to tell them about his wife Kimmie’s pregnancy.
Kimmie, 26, shares a special bond with the couple, too, given that she has a lot of the same interests as Marsha, and sees Lyle as a father figure to lean on, having lost her own dad when she was young.
So, when she and Winston found out their big news, they started to plan how best to surprise Lyle and Marsha in a way that they wouldn’t suspect.
Winston decided some form of box would be very unassuming, so that when his parents opened it to reveal the surprise, their reaction would be 100 percent natural.
Having settled on a Domino’s pizza box, Winston and Kimmie then headed over to Lyle and Marsha’s house for dinner, placing the boxes on the counter and shouting the couple to come down to eat.
When Lyle and Marsha entered their kitchen, on October 29, they had been told that there was a mistake with the order and that a pizza was missing from one of the boxes.
At that point, Marsha went to inspect, opening the box to see a baby scan inside.
As soon as the news hit, Marsha let out a huge scream and ran around the house in excitement, while a stunned Lyle had a similar reaction, before heading over to give Kimmie a big hug.

Winston, who is now expecting his first child in June, said: “I’ve always had a very loving relationship with my parents.
“The days between when we found out and when we told them, Kimmie and I talked through so many different ways we thought this would play out and what we thought was nothing compared to their actual reactions.
“We’d never seen either of them respond in the ways they did.
“My mother is a very poised woman, so to see her absolutely shriek from pure joy was just so surprising and the sweetest thing.
“And you would’ve thought my dad had waited for that moment his whole life.
“I had never ever seen my dad be that expressive in my life.
“Their reactions being so pure and endearing meant the world to us really.
“They had only just found out, and we could already feel and see the love they have for our baby so clearly.”
