The heartwarming display of community spirit was captured on camera by passersby after 73-year-old Zoa Mendez became trapped under her own car during routine flower deliveries in Lawrence, Mass.

She had accidentally left her vehicle in the drive when it rolled back and onto her, pinning her to the ground and beneath the heavy SUV’s chassis.

Screaming for help, passersby quickly rushed to help lift the car, with police officers called to the scene to join the rescue efforts.

Elvis Burgos, one of the good samaritans who sprang into action, told local news: “She was screaming for help and she’s grabbing on my leg and I’m just trying to lift up the car.”

Over a dozen people, many of them complete strangers, worked together to lift the vehicle and free Mendez.

Yanet Minaya, who witnessed the incredible scene, added: “They were just lifting the car, almost half of it to the top.

“A lot of people helped her. I don’t know what would have happened if she did not have no one help her.”

Even nearby drivers pulled over to offer assistance and make sure Mendez was okay.
