A teen fought back tears of happiness when she was given a surprise reunion with her soldier mom who had spent the previous 10 months deployed in the Middle East.
Angel Fox, a staff sergeant with the United States Army, from Sandford, North Carolina, shares a tight bond with her daughter Amiyah, 14, so their near year apart was extremely tough on both.
Mom Angel, 37, said she looked forward to her FaceTime calls with her daughter, but while being surrounded by “rocks and dirt” she really felt Amiyah was missing her presence.

And so, when she was given news she could return to the U.S. after 10 months overseas, she decided to plan a surprise for her daughter.
Amiyah’s school principal called her to be signed out, only for her to walk into the room and see a familiar face.
As soon as she saw her mom, Amiyah ran into her arms and fought back tears of happiness on her shoulder.
Angel shared a video of her daughter’s surprise on social media, which also included surprises for her two sisters and grandma.
Angel said: “The principal was very sweet and in awe and wanted to record without me even asking.
“She called my daughter to the front and grabbed my phone while waiting for my daughter to enter, so she could capture every expression and emotion that was on my daughter’s face – it was flawless.

“I felt loved, missed, warmth, excitement; I was finally able to breathe, and my knees were weak, but my heart was filled with so much joy and happiness to be reunited with my favorite girl.
“I was welcomed home, with everyone appreciating me for sharing this moment, thanking me for my service – I have been so moved from all the love that has been shown.
“I needed that as much as they said they needed to see these genuine reactions from my family.”
