A stunned teen was left speechless at his graduation after the first-grade teacher he still calls his “second mom” traveled across the country to surprise him.
Jordan Hodges Scaggs, 18, from Tampa, Florida, has always credited Denise Crocker with helping set him on the right path.
Mrs. Crocker taught Jordan at Rosebud Primary School when he and his family lived in Texas – and from that moment on, their bond never faded.
Jordan’s mom, Atiah, 45, said the relationship between her son and his former teacher has been “phenomenal” ever since first grade.

Over the years, Mrs. Crocker remained a constant presence in Jordan’s life.
Whenever he needed her, she was there – through testing, family moves, and even FaceTime calls after Jordan left Texas.
So, in the months leading up to Jordan’s high school graduation, Mrs. Crocker and Jordan’s family quietly began planning a surprise he would never see coming.
On May 23, she traveled to Florida and waited at the Tempo Community Center, ready to reunite with the teenager who still sees her as far more than just a former teacher.
As Jordan walked into the room, Tiah’s friend shouted that he had arrived.
The moment he saw Mrs. Crocker, Jordan froze.
He put his hands on his head in total shock before walking toward the teacher he lovingly calls his second mom.
The pair then shared an emotional hug, which was captured on video.
Still trying to process the surprise, Jordan asked: “How did she get here?!”
He then stepped away for a moment to compose himself, as the emotion of the reunion hit him.
The video later gained thousands of likes on social media.
Tiah said: “Jordan feels like Mrs. Crocker has a second mom relationship.
‘He will always love her as a second mom.
“Ever since the first grade, their bond has been phenomenal, and Mrs. Crocker was always there when he needed her.
“He would call her on FaceTime when we moved out of Texas, and he would even ask to see her when we went back to visit.
“We had been planning the surprise for months.
“I was so happy, and I cried – but you couldn’t see that in the video.
“If there is ever a question of how important and monumental teachers are in a child’s life, this would be a perfect example.”
