A proud new grandpa, rocking a hilarious “I can’t keep calm my daughter’s having a baby” t-shirt, couldn’t hold back the ugly tears when he read his newborn grandson’s secret name tag!
Michael Cannarozzi, 66, is the ultimate family hero. His self-confessed “Daddy’s girl,” daughter Gina, 35, from Garfield, New Jersey, has always seen her dad as the guy who shows up for everyone and is a true rock.
When Gina was expecting her first child with husband Eric, she wanted a way to honor her father, the man who has given her so much.
She kept her son’s special name a total secret throughout her pregnancy. Then, finally, after giving birth on September 28, she waited for the perfect moment for the big reveal.
Dressed in their fun grandparent tees, Michael and his wife Arlene excitedly walked into the hospital room. Gina played it cool, claiming she still hadn’t picked a name. But when the doting grandparents looked down at the tiny baby’s crib and saw the official name tag, the waterworks started.
The tag read: Enzo Michael Perez.
Michael instantly choked up, his face crumpling before he burst into a truly epic and heartfelt sob, with ugly tears flowing.
Gina told us: “My bond with my dad is something special – we just get each other because we’re so alike.
“My husband and I both felt it was only right to honor him in a meaningful way. Not only has he been an incredible father to me, but he’s also become a true father figure to my husband.
“Naming our son after him felt like the perfect way to carry forward his spirit, his kindness, and the love he’s poured into our family.
“In that moment, I felt an immense sense of pride, it felt meaningful to give something back to a man who has given me so much throughout my life.
“Honoring him in this way is truly special, as he has always been an exceptional father and an equally wonderful grandfather, no one is more deserving of this recognition than he is.”
