In a twist that’s tickling the internet’s funny bone, the Wyandotte Police Department has revealed the culprit behind a snack heist: one of their own K-9 officers.
The Michigan police department shared the tale on their Facebook page, including a hilarious ‘mugshot’ of the culprit, much to the amusement of their online followers.
The post detailed how suspicions arose after a noticeable decline in the department’s treat reserves.
Following a thorough investigation, which we understand involved some tail-wagging and perhaps a little bit of “sniffing” around, the evidence pointed to one of their canine colleagues.

“The incident happened two days ago at the station,” the social media post by the department read.
“Ofc. Barwig was eating lunch in the breakroom when he was called to assist with a person in the WPD jail.
“He quickly jumped into service, leaving his half eaten lunch on the table. A short while later Barwig and another officer returned to the breakroom only to find Ofc. Ice leisurely strolling out of the room licking his chops. Barwig’s entire lunch was gone….disappeared, vanished!”
The Facebook post, which has garnered thousands of likes and shares, has been flooded with comments praising the department’s light-hearted approach to the snack heist.
One user commented, “Pawsatively innocent until proven guilty.” Another added, “Only thing he’ll ever be guilty of is being too cute!”
The Wyandotte Police Department concluded their post: “Ofc. Ice has invoked his Fifth Amendment right to remain silent and, quite frankly, is not cooperating with the investigation.
“He has a history of rummaging through trash cans that are within his reach. There have been several other accusations of him taking food right from coworker’s hands as they walk by.”
