Over two-thirds of people in a recent poll claimed the hardest thing to live without for a week would be their phone.
A survey on our Happily YouTube channel, attracting more than 14,000 responses, revealed that, besides essentials such as food and water, 69% of people would struggle without their cell phones.
A heartwarming 13% of people said they couldn’t live without their best friend.
Other replies included a favorite snack (6%) and their favorite musical artist (5%).
But that wasn’t all – with many followers adding they couldn’t go without their pets, significant other, favorite TV shows, exercise, and even coffee.
Among the hundreds of comments in the discussion, user Gifaffwee said: “I feel like the lesson of this poll is that there are so many things that we take for granted and when we don’t have them we wish we did.”
Going against the general consensus, user SigmaBalls93 added: “I went without my phone for a month.. it was surprisingly peaceful.”
But some users such as Gerald highlighted why phones are so important: “My family is so widely separated that my phone is the only way I have to keep in touch with them.”
Raena agreed: “My best friend lives over 2,000 miles away from me, but we have talked everyday since she moved. I need my phone/laptop to talk to her though lol, it would take a week minimum to get a letter to her.”
