A three-year-old with alopecia beamed with happiness when a wig made from hair her mom donated was placed on her head for the first time.
When Lorelai Rojas was a year old, her mom, Rubi, 23, from Los Angeles, California, noticed her daughter had some patchy hair loss.
Having been referred to a dermatologist, Lorelai was diagnosed with alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that attacks the hair follicles.

Rubi tried a number of treatments for her daughter, but when Lorelai was still left with just strands of hair, she made the difficult decision to shave her daughter’s head.
That period was extremely tough, Rubi admitted, as she was worried about how other children would treat her daughter, and Rubi started to ask when her hair was coming.
She would also express her love of playing with her mom and grandma’s hair, and so, after a failed attempt at buying a wig online, Rubi looked into donating her hair to make a wig for her daughter.
The 23-year-old discovered Hair With A Cause, a company specializing in hair issues, and booked a consultation in September 2025.
Then, in December, Rubi headed for her haircut, during which she said was extremely emotional, as she thought about her daughter throughout.
Lorelai’s wig took a few weeks to make, before heading back to Hair With A Cause on January 21, 2026.
As the wig was placed on the three-year-old’s head, Lorelai beamed with confidence; while mom Rubi said she bawled her eyes out at seeing how happy the wig made her daughter.
Since then, Lorelai has loved wearing her wig and combing her hair.

Rubi said: “When getting my haircut, I got emotional because I knew I was doing something good for my daughter.
“I knew she was just as excited as me – when I got the call that her hair was ready, we went in and she tried it on, and the look on her face was priceless.
“Seeing her smile was worth it, I cried my eyes out because I know she felt confident with her wig, just as much without it.
“I would do it all over again for my baby.
“Seeing her with hair I grew out for months with lots of love and care warmed my heart because she knew that wasn’t Mommy’s hair anymore; it was her hair.”
